The Northern Native Rights Campaign was organized by the Project North ecumenical coalition, with participation of the Conference’s Social Affairs Department, to raise public awareness about the concerns of the northern Native peoples for aboriginal nationhood in the context of constitutional debate about the political future of the country. The Campaign also aimed to mobilize public opposition to the Alaska Highway Pipeline and other major development projects.
